Tactical Choreography Workshop
Collective Movement & Tactical Choreography Research
Hosted by Book Bloc Brigade and Swarm Movement at No Limits Art Castle
This workshop explored collective movement, using group formations and choreography tactically in public spaces. Participants headed out onto the streets together with the life-sized shield book covers created by Book Bloc Brigade as tools of defense and visual resistance.
In the second part small zines were made to visualize the choreography that was created, and stories regarding the themes and experiences of this research.
Book Bloc Brigade was formed in response to the ongoing genocide in Palestine, and the violent police repression of students at university encampments across the Netherlands. Book blocs were originally invented by the Italian student movement in Novemer 2020 against Berlusconi's education reform.
Swarm Movement explores the potential of group dynamics and tactical choreography in public spaces. Through coordinated 'swarms' the group investigates how moving together can foster community and raise awareness.
The collaborative research was part of World Pr***otest exhibition of No Limits! Art Castle, and took place between June and August 2026.
